BASANT (Spring)
Flowers during winter,
Hide in earth’s cosy bed,
Eager in summer for rebirth,
Lifting their beautiful heads.
Leaves and flowers,
Just wait for the dark,
wintry nights to go,
And long bright sunny days to grow.
Soon you see,
in the months of,
March April and May,
Hazy mist and fog driven away,
And by the strong winds, dead leaves shaken away.
The lazy life becomes, cheerful and gay.
With no benumbing winds,
To bite and flay.
Frost is replaced by drops of dew,
The Earth gets a colorful hue.
All over, buds open into cheerful smile,
With bumble bees and butterflies,
Hovering in delight.
The birds are heard, twittering and warbling,
The whole nature in sunlight sparkling.
Spring comes with a riot of colors,
Endowed with new zeal and new fervor.
In diverse forms, natural beauty unfolds,
Fields of green sway,
Topped with yellow gold.
The Earth is carpeted with
Pansies,roses, poppies and marigolds,
The lashes of rain and hale
are kept in hold.
Man and Nature both,
Hum with the joy of living,
Playing, dancing,mating and loving.
The sky gets speckled with kites,
Sometimes flying high,
Sometimes losing height.
To match with Nature,
Even people put on yellow clothes,
Feasting and celebrating,
Their joy increases manifold.
This season begins with
Basant Panchami,
That is the day for worshipping
Goddess Saraswati.
People pray and invoke,
This goddess of wisdom,
So that along with earthly pleasure,
They keep in mind God’s kingdom.
She is the Goddess of
Art, Music and Dance.
She is an epitome of
All integrated Fine Arts.
Hope you agree with me,
That it is not without reason
Basant is known
As The King of all Seasons.
