“HELPLESS PIEGEON ON THE VERGE OF….”
Getting a cue from the response/ success of the first issue of “G” released on the eve of World Environment Week, I am working on the write up/ feature on Sparrows for the next part of Special “Pull Out” of Grihaswamini to coincide with the ongoing World Environment Week.It should be through by evening today unless some exigency crops up.
By the way, I felt happy that you liked the photo of Piegeon. When I look around in mornings and evenings, they appear upset and mostly found starving during the current second Covid wave.
This well behaved Piegeon thronging C Tower of Apex Athena, our modest Abode in Noida was no exception. Based on my earlier observation of piegeons of Nivedita Kunj and Bapa Nagar localities of Delhi, they display somewhat inactive and abnormal behavior, prior to breathing their last.He /she too appeared very quiet early today when I went out (6.15hrs) to look for my newspaper.Looking somewhat dark and ordinary, he did not appear in a hurry.
I got an impression of an iota of depression, if not indisposition on his part.Observed him/her for 8 to 10 minutes. There was no reaction, activity or protest .At times ,he would pretend to stare at me.
After some time ,head began to move rather slowly but body remained in one, uninspiring posture.I got engrossed in taking shots from 7 different angles. One was attempting to get fair amount of satisfaction as an amateur Photographer.
After some time,he flew but very slowly and sat over the close-by yellow boundary walĺ, surrounded by lush green low trees, bushes & creepers.
Who knows what will happen next . He/she may revive and survive or……leave us for ever.Like human beings, no official record of birds is maintained unless there is a Bird Flu situation.
